Living Earth Rose Soil

Rose Soil has long been a favorite Living Earth product. This is a coarse-textured, somewhat heavy mix of organic material with some sand. Rose Soil holds moisture, yet is coarse enough to promote air circulation. Rose Soil is also great for Hibiscus and other warm weather blooming shrubs.

Clay Killer

Clay Killer is a blend of Living Earth Compost with Expanded Shale. This natural amendment, when properly applied, will improve drainage, aeration and fertility of the soil.

Enriched Top Soil

Enriched Top Soil is a fine-textured blend of sandy loam and compost. It is used as a top dressing on existing soil surfaces before laying sod or planting grass seed. Many use it to fill low spots in turf areas or around sidewalks and driveways. It is heavy and stays in place. Enriched Top Soil is not recommended as a planting medium.

Forest Floor (Houston Only)

Forest Floor is made from leaves, grass clippings and small branches. In Houston, Living Earth receives Forest Floor in compostable bags from the City of Houston. We process this material until it is a fine-textured and composted. Forest Floor can be used as compost. We also use Forest Floor to make some of our mixed soils and other blends.

Mixed Soil with Compost

Mixed Soil with Compost A blend of topsoil, sand and compost, screened to remove stones and debris, this blend is designed to build planting beds. The heavy nature of Mixed Soil with Compost keeps it in place as plants establish. It will stay in place when used to build a raised planting bed.

Vegetable Mix

Vegetable Garden Mix is a unique blend of compost, loam, sand, aged mulch, expanded shale and Texas Green Sand. It will perform well with most plantings, especially vegetables. It has excellent drainage, moisture retention and friability. The more you use Vegetable Garden Mix on your veggies, the more you’ll want to use it in all areas of your garden.

Texas Black Select

Texas Black Select is screened top soil composed of a dark colored clay-loam mixture. It is useful for leveling low spots in turf or in areas where a heavy, fine material is needed.

Professional Bedding Mix is blended from our finest materials, including compost, screened mulch and fine sand. Pro-Bedding is a ready to use soil mix ideal for building planting beds from the bottom up. Pro-Bedding has excellent drainage and will not compact.

Azalea Soil (60/40 Peat)

Azalea Soil Good drainage, air porosity and moisture retention are assured in this carefully balanced formula. With Canadian peat moss and pine bark mulch, this blend is specifically formulated for Azaleas and other acid-loving plants.

Potting Soil

Potting Soil has a combination of Pine Fines, Hardwood Mulch and Sand. Blended for container plantings, it promotes drainage while providing moisture and organic content for potted plants. Be sure your container has a hole in the bottom for proper drainage.
