Fine Shredded Hardwood Bark Mulch is the most popular mulch. With a fine-texture, uniform size and medium to dark brown color this mulch provides a pleasing, natural, finishing touch to any planting bed. As with our other quality mulches, Fine Shredded Hardwood Bark Mulch conserves water, suppresses weeds, moderates soil temperatures and adds valuable organic content to planting beds.

Cedar Mulch is shredded and has a reddish-brown color and pleasing aroma. It contains cedar oil and therefore lasts longer than most mulch. Because Cedar Mulch has a fibrous texture, it tends to hold together on sloped surfaces. A native Texas recycled product, Cedar Mulch is reported to repel insects, decompose slowly and hold its color longer than cypress. It is one of the finest mulches on the market.
Native Hardwood Mulch is produced by Living Earth taking branches and leaves from Landscapers, homeowners and others to make Native Hardwood Mulch. We double grind this material into a uniform, medium to dark brown mulch. Native Hardwood Mulch is made with many types of trees and enriches planting beds with a diverse number of microbes.
Black Diamond Mulch is made of Pine Bark and Fine Shredded Hardwood Bark Mulch and certain proprietary additives. Combining the qualities of both types of mulches as well as some additional proprietary materials, Black Diamond has the fine texture of Hardwood with the deep rich color and the smell of pine. It is a mulch with a distinctive dark, rich color.
Pecan Shell Mulch consists of pecan shells which are a natural byproduct of the Texas pecan industry. They are an excellent choice for use on all planting areas to conserve water, suppress weeds, moderate soil temperatures, lower pH, and add valuable nutrients.
Course Shredded Hardwood Bark Mulch is dark brown and fine-textured. When used as a top dressing it moderates soil temperature, suppresses weed growth and conserves moisture. As it decomposes, Hardwood Bark Mulch adds vital organic content into the soil beneath.
Top Soil with Compost is a blend of topsoil, sand and compost, screened to remove stones and debris, this blend is designed to build planting beds. The heavy nature of Mixed Soil with Compost keeps it in place as plants establish. It will stay in place when used to build a raised planting bed.
On-Structure Rooftop Mix is a custom mix made from a mixture of Expanded Shale, washed sand and Compost. The mix is used in container planting and on structure applications as specified. We will prepare this mix to your specification. We can change it and reweigh it. We warrant that this mix will provide satisfactory performance of plant material when used with proper plant care.
Planting Mix begins with our quality Professional Bedding Soil. We add Texas Green Sand (glauconite) that provides chelated iron and other elements. Then we add Expanded Shale to promote drainage, producing a superior soil structure. Specialty Planting Mix is ready to use in all planting applications.
Living Earth Rose Soil is made of Compost, Hardwood Mulch and Pine Bark. A small percentage of sand is included to add structure to the mix. Compost may be made with grass clippings, leaves, branches, manure, straw and/or stable bedding depending on the availability of these feed stocks. Rose Soil has a coarse texture that allows air circulation yet stays damp.
Topdress for Athletic Fields Blend is a specific blend of sand and compost. Sand is the major component with the compost adding the organic element required for the development of adequate soil biology. The sand is “subangular” or sharp. Composted rice hulls are used because of their fine texture. The ratio of sand and compost may vary, but 80/20 sand to compost is recommended.
Expanded Shale or Haydite is a clay product that is heated in a rotary kiln until it becomes a ceramic aggregate. Most Expanded Shale is sized to 3/8 inches and is grey in color. It can absorb about 20% of its weight in water, yet because it is angular in shape it also improves drainage and air circulation when used in horticultural mixes.
Sharp Sand is also known as Concrete Sand and Coarse Sand. Sharp Sand will have an increased percentage of larger particles and is characterized by the presence of small gravel visible to the eye. Sharp Sand is generally very clean, lacking in clay and silt content.
Bank Sand is a fine-textured. It generally contains a percentage of clay and silt along with the greatest percentage of sand. Often Bank Sand can be classified as Sandy Loam. It can be light to medium brown or sometimes reddish in color.
