The city sought a way to reduce the impact of green recyclables being landfilled. City officials believed it possible to divert 20% or more of the total municipal waste stream.
In 2007 and 2008, Living Earth participated in a pilot program with the City of Houston to recycle the city’s green material.
The Texas Department of Transportation (“TXDOT”) sought a more effective way to re-establish vegetation and control erosion along rights-of-way in an environmentally friendly manner.

Living Earth worked with Gibson’s Landscape Services and Hargreaves Associates, a California-based landscape architecture firm, to arrive at a set of soil blends that met their unique specifications.
